World's Top 10 Destinations - The Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Index rankings 2009
The Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Index (TTCI) is developed within the context of the World Economic Forum’s Industry Partnership Programme for the Aviation, Travel and Tourism Sector. TTCI is based on three broad categories of variables that facilitate or drive Travel & Tourism Competitiveness. These categories are summarized into three sub indexes: the T&T regulatory framework sub index (policy related elements and generally under the purview of the government), the T&T business environment and infrastructure sub index (elements of business environment and the ‘hard’ infrastructure of each economy) and the T&T human, cultural and natural resources sub index (‘softer’ human, cultural and natural elements of each country’s resource endowments).
The Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Index rankings 2009 list the following countries as the World’s Top 10 Destinations. India is ranked 11th in Asia Pacific region and 62nd in the world, which is up three places than the previous year.
